Walnut Drawing Ink

Walnut ink is a natural brown ink made from the husks of walnuts, rather than the nuts themselves. Historically, it has been used for writing, drawing, and calligraphy due to its rich, warm brown colour. The ink has a unique transparency and tonal variation, allowing artists and calligraphers to create depth and subtle shading in their work.
The ink produces a range of brown tones, from light sepia to dark chocolate, depending on its concentration and application. Can be diluted with water to achieve lighter shades or used more concentrated for darker tones.
Traditional walnut ink is known for its durability and resistance to fading over time, making it a popular choice for historical documents and artwork.
Since it is made from natural materials, walnut ink is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
Its smooth flow and consistent application make it ideal for calligraphy. Artists use walnut ink for sketching due to its ability to produce various shades and textures.

Can also be used in combination with water to create washes and gradients, much like watercolour paint.
