My commitment to making the highest quality painting materials is born out of my own experiences as an artist. It deeply informs my approach to paintmaking. To make paints that respond deftly under the brush, colours that sing; pure and unadulterated.
My paintings explore the nature of the beautiful image and the objects we desire. They depict artworks in private spaces, drawn from found imagery in books and magazines. The more limited the information in the photograph the better. The camera captures light and space, but I take that frozen image and distill it, reshape it, and reimagine it in paint. The act of pushing, pulling, dragging and laying of paint on canvas becomes a process independent of the image.
